Inform, include, inspire

This triad defines and illustrates the mission of The Burgundy and White. This early edition is meant to give our Warrior community a taste of what is to come.

Student-created and community-driven, this paper will be created by and placed into the hands of those who bleed burgundy and white.

Inform: Though everyone in the Warrior community—students, teachers, even parents—are connected by a common thread, it can be difficult to keep up with school happenings. This newspaper intends to be a uniting force that keeps our audience up-to-date with what their peers, teachers, and family members are accomplishing at Nokomis. We Warriors are always innovating, evolving, and achieving great things. During unusual, and occasionally discouraging times, we want to remind our readers of all the good that is continuing throughout our school.

Include: The Burgundy and White will be the microphone for all Warriors. Nokomis is home to many unique individuals: theater kids, athletes, tech wizards, scholars, music creators, writers, scientists, activists, and more. We want you all to be recognized, appreciated, and heard. Our paper will not only feature stories about our diverse students, but we will be seeking out written pieces and art from our student body! We will also highlight those who support and guide our students through high school—both teachers and community.

Inspire: Our mission is to not only inform but inspire. Our editions will include a broad range of topics. Check out the following pages of the early edition for a preview of what’s to come. And we would love to take suggestions from our readers! The Burgundy and White will also feature moving stories on community members who are making a difference. Our goal is to make the days of our readers brighter and motivate them to create.
